As one of the best known and most popular sauropod dinosaurs, Diplodocus lived 152-154
million years ago in the late Jurassic period. It lived in what is now the midwest of North Ameriapprox. Its
name translates as double-barred reptile, referring to v-shaped chevron bones located
on the underside of the caudal spine that were considered unique
at the time. It is believed that its extremely long tail served as a whip and defense against enemies
such as Allosaurus and Ceratosaurus, which lived contemporaneously with it. The Diplodocus
reached a length of 27 to 33 mtr. A very popular model since its first release
CollectA has now decided on a new color scheme for the Diplodocus
after requests from several enthusiasts.
