Schleich

The company Schleich was founded in 1935. Initially Schleich was specialized in the production of plastic parts. This changed in the 1950s with the introduction of the first Schleich animals and the Schleich Smurfs. This was followed in the 1980s own animal figures, which still belong to the most realistic figures on the market.

CollectA

The Chinese company Collecta exists since the 1990s and has since produced figures for other companies. Since about 2006 Collecta offers figurines under his own name. CollectA is very strong in animals, but they also offer great variety of wildlife, especially antelopes. The fantasy series with the Greek gods has been withdrawn from the market of 2003.

Bullyland

After Volkmar Klaus and Friedrich Schleich parted in discord, Volkmar Klaus founded 1973 the company Bullyland. Volkmar Klaus was son of Friedrich Schleich, founder of the company Schleich. Bullyland is the only company that produces his characters without PVC. As a result, the figurines are very flexible and actually almost unbreakable. The series Wildlife of Bullyland are greater than those of other manufacturers.

Safari Ltd

Safari is a US-based family-run company. It was founded in 1982, the company headquarters is located in Florida. Safari developed characters with an educational approach. The children should therefore learn from the figure about the animal. So there are some figures from Safari with certain characteristics such as noctilucent, floating or bendable.

Papo

Papo is a French company, founded in 1983 in Evry. Papo has a similar market share in France as in Germany Schleich.

Plastoy

Plastoy was founded in 1982 in Paris, Frank Rich. A few years ago Plastoy ran into financial difficulties. So Plastoy since 2011 now operates as part of Groupe Jemini. The availability of Plastoy Articles continues to be problematic.

Maia & Borges

Maia and Borges is an old-established company in Portugal. It was founded in 1976 in Maia City near Porto. Maia and Borges has for years produced figures for the company Schleich. After Schleich no longer relies on the services of Maia & Borges, they now bring their own products to market.

Mojo Fun

Mojo Fun is a company based in Hong Kong, founded in 2009. Mojo is widely 'magic'. So Mojo wants to give the children having fun the magic of the animals.

Quality and Painting:

Certainly, there are still differences in the individual producers, with regards to the quality and the demands on the painting. However, the products of all manufacturers through the technical progress are on a very good level. Ultimately, it is the taste of the individual, which shows the 'best' is.

Size

Basically you can say that the figures match the size and are perfectly combined. There are some exceptions like the pets from Schleich, the 'Incredible Creatures' from Safari, the topics in tubes, or the horses in a scale of 1:12 from CollectA.
